Nylander suited up as Toronto won in overtime

It was Toronto center John Tavares who was noted for the game-winning goal and William Nylander (and John Klingberg) for the pass.

But on the replays, it looks like Nylander’s crafty pass aimed at Tavares’ blade in front of the box could be an own goal by Tampa Bay defender Michail Sergatjov.

Sergatjov tries to stop Nylander’s pass but instead, possibly with a tiny, tiny touch on the way of Tavares, bumps it into the goal behind Tampa Bay’s Swedish goalkeeper Jonas Johansson.

Johansson played great, despite the loss, between the posts and saved 48 shots.

— I think he should have gotten all three spots available for the game’s top three, says Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper after the game.

It probably sounds good to Johansson’s ears because he has stepped in for the long-term injured colleague Andrej Vasilevsky.

William Nylander opened the scoring by giving Toronto the lead, assisted by John Tavares. But Tamba Bay, with among others Viktor Hedman who had the most ice time of all the players in the match, turned the game around. It wasn’t until the end of the third period that Toronto got back on track and set the stage for the overtime decider.
