On the surveillance footage, the woman is seen, among other things, checking waste cans for used syringes and walking up to the shelf where the morphine was stored. She is seen taking something from the shelf and then putting it in her pocket. Later that day, she repeats the incident.
On another occasion, the woman was caught by surveillance cameras taking four used morphine syringes in the same warehouse.
Among other things, a spent morphine ampoule was also found in the woman’s wardrobe at the workplace.
“No memory of the incident”
The woman states that she has no memory of the incident and that she has been affected by stress for a long time. The woman says that she has not cleaned out her cupboard for many years and that she has put used ampoules and syringes there.
The district court considered that the woman had not made a credible impression and that her explanation appears to be an afterthought. She is sentenced to theft for having stolen one or two ampoules of morphine, and to arbitrary proceedings for the four used morphine syringes, to a suspended sentence and 60 days’ fines. She no longer works at the workplace.
