(Finance) – Aeneas has developed an innovative drone for the search and localization of radioactive sources, useful in cases of radiological and nuclear emergency. The innovation – Enea announces in a note – will be presented today starting at 4 pm live on the Facebook page of Rome Drone Webinar Channel, the streaming channel specialized in legislation, technology and the drone market.
Equipped with a measuring instrument called Geiger Muller, the drone will remotely allow the measurement of ionizing radiation in specific areas, thus preserving humans from any radioactive contamination. Thanks to an optimization algorithm, the drone is also able to selectively identify the contaminated area, reducing the search and localization times of the sources compared to traditional approaches.
The activity is conducted by Enea as part of the “Including” project (Inovative cluster for radiological and nuclear emergencies), funded by Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission for the prevention and response to radiological and nuclear emergencies.
