NMA 2023. The 25th NRJ Music Awards ceremony will be held this evening, Friday November 10, 2023, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, in a particular security context. This year, the show will not be live but recorded a few hours before its broadcast.
The NRJ Music Awards 2023 are tonight! This Friday, November 10, 2023, the event will reward the artists who marked the year in different categories. But this year, the ceremony must face a difficult security context, due to the war between Israel and Hamas and the “emergency attack” alert. TF1 has therefore chosen not to be live: the show will be recorded in advance at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, a few hours before its broadcast scheduled for 9:10 p.m. Thus, the retransmission cannot be cut in the event of a bomb threat. To prevent the winners from leaking, spectators will not have their phones on during recording. Other changes this year: the number of people present was reduced, as locals were not invited to attend the ceremony. The stars will not climb the steps of the Palace either, and the NRJ radio studios have not been installed on the Croisette. The police security system will also be strengthened.

In this context, “quite a few people have decided not to travel”, explains Jacques Grimal, general coordinator of the event, interviewed by Le Parisien. And for good reason, the only Americans present will be Benson Boone and Paul Russell, two young stars of the social network TikTok. The cast will therefore be predominantly French-speaking, with a few surprises, such as an air show by Santa from Nice, singer of the group Hyphen Hyphen. And Isabelle Adjani will also be present to make her return to singing. She will sing one of the tracks from her second album, “original soundtrack”, released on November 10, 2023. The artist will be accompanied by Gaëtan Roussel to perform “Les currents d’air”.

The categories of the NRJ Music Awards
For this 25th edition of the NRJ Music Awards, artists are competing in 17 categories, one less than during the NMA 2022. Last year, four new categories appeared, such as live, after two years of Covid-19 pandemic. The categories are as follows: French-speaking and international revelations; French-speaking and international female artist; French-speaking and international male artist; international song; French-speaking and international collaborations; French-speaking and international group/duo; French-speaking and international clip; DJ; SocialHit; Cover/adaptation and French-speaking tour.
The public can vote for their favorite artists/titles until the day of the ceremony. Votes will therefore be open from Monday October 2 from 12 p.m., until November 10 at noon, on the new NRJ application. The voting mechanism applied in previous editions is maintained: it is only possible to vote, in each category, once per day. Some prices will not be revealed on air but on MyTF1.
