The community of the Steam game Manor Lords has taken a particular liking to an NPC. His name doesn’t seem particularly suitable for young people, but according to developer Slavic Magic, it is historically accurate. Players were now able to vote on whether his name should be changed.
Which NPC is it? The names of the farmers in Manor Lords are randomly generated from a pool. It can happen that one of the NPCs has the name Cuntz. This can happen by chance to be an oxen driver, gravedigger or blacksmith.
The name seems offensive to some players. They derive it from the English word “cunt”, which is a term for the female sexual organ. The NPC has therefore become the target of many memes. You can find an example in the following reddit post:
What is the consequence? The community turned to the developer and asked him to remove the name. However, developer Grzegorz Styczeń assured that it was not the vulgar word, but a historically accurate name. The name was taken from a census in the 14th century (via reddit).
Some fans explained that the name was an abbreviation for Konrad and therefore had a right to exist. But the explanation was apparently not enough for the critics, which is why a vote was now held.

How did the vote go? The developer created a poll on the Manor Lords Discord. The fan community should decide democratically whether Cuntz should keep his name. The alternative would be to change the name to Konrad.
The poll has now ended. A total of 8,185 players have decided on the existence of Cuntz. The following votes were cast during this time;
And the win goes to: Cuntz! The development team will not remove the name from the game. It could be that the joke wears off over time and the community doesn’t like using Cuntz for memes.
