In 2005, the internet changed when the video platform YouTube was created by Jawed Karim, Steve Chen and Chad Hurley.
The very first video uploaded to the platform was filmed by creator Jawed Karim on April 23, 2005 and was named “Me at the zoo”. The video was filmed at the San Diego Zoo where Karim said he was there to see elephants.

Over the years, the platform has developed and nowadays it is possible to watch videos as a visitor, then with advertising, or as a premium user, which means that you avoid advertising.
Now, however, another change is coming for all the hundreds of millions of users who visit YouTube daily.
Due to the enormous amount of content available on the platform, they are now choosing to act so that users can sort through true, false or misleading information.
The site Mobile writes that Google, which owns YouTube since 2006, has chosen to implement a tool for certain users. The “Viewers Notes” function should help clean up incorrect information. This is by allowing a number of users to gain access to the function and then be able to submit notes to express how they perceive content.
Other users can then act as a joint group to decide whether the note should appear under the video or not, the site writes.

How you are affected by YouTube’s change
Those who get access to “Viewers Notes” are also asked by Google to keep the notes and information as neutral and easy to understand as possible. And for them to be published under the video it is intended for, it is required that “enough people” rate the note as useful.
This means that in the future you may be informed that the content is considered to spread incorrect or misleading information.
If and when the feature will be rolled out to all users has not been determined, according to Mobil. But it is clear that the test period, which began in June 2024, will be decisive for the function’s future.
