The Sámi Grand Prix is arranged annually in connection with Easter, which is an old tradition.
The music competition invites participants and artists from all over Sápmi, but where the requirement is that the contribution must be performed in one of the Sami languages.
The producer for SGP, Ol Johan Gaup speaks NRK Sápmithat everyone is welcome to sign up.
– It should be easy to send contributions to us. What is sent in does not have to be fully produced. Phone recording is great, he says.
Want to create new stars
Registration is open until December 1 and it will be broadcast on NRK1, SVT Sápmi’s site and on SVT Play.
Ann-Irene Buljo, project manager for the event, hopes that the new venture motivates more and new voices to apply.
– We wish to stand for quality and hope that the Sámi Grand Prix will be a place where artists and joikers come into contact with the great world of music. We have funds to help develop talent and create new stars, says Gaup.
