The Rey film was announced two years ago at the Star Wars Celebration in London. Since then, three screenwriters have left the project. With George Nolfi, the fourth author is now working on the film – and maybe he manages to find the perfect story for the project described with the New Jedi Order working title.
Leading actress Daisy Ridley, who was already seen in the sequel trilogy as a Rey Skywalker, is enthusiastic about Nolfi’s commitment. Even if she has not yet got the latest script version in her hands, she raves about the new author, who is supposed to get the battered Rey film on course.
Daisy Ridley gives an update to the New Jedi Order project
As part of the promotional tour of her new action wreater Cleaner, who will come to the cinema in the United States on February 21, 2025, Ridley has put together an interview with ComicBook.com. It was not just about dangerous stunts, but also the question of what the status quo of the Rey film is. Ridley replied:
I haven’t read the latest version of the script yet, but I know what happens and I know the story. What feels really good is that George [Nolfi] is a phenomenal author. We are currently making sure that this story is told with the best possible script, and I think that the wait is definitely worth it.
Nolfi himself had recently proven himself as an absolute star Wars expert by broken down by George Lucas’s films to their essential components and, above all, emphasized the political impact. Previously, he wrote Ocean’s Twelve, the Bourne Ultimatum and the plan – the latter even staged.
When does the new Star Wars film start in the cinema about Rey?
There will still be a lot of time before the Rey film comes. For the time being, it must be ensured that the script is dry. Then the shooting can begin. As a director, Sharmen is still Obaid-Chinoy on board, which previously shot two episodes of the MCU series Ms. Marvel in 2022.
Obaid-Chinoy also has an exciting background, as is rarely found in the filmmakers of a blockbuster of this size: It is not only as a director from the documentary area. Apart from the moving pictures, Obaid-Chinoy was active as a journalist and campaigned against the discrimination against women.
For a long time it was assumed that the Star Wars film she staged in December 2026 was coming to the cinema. Due to the script returns, this date should no longer be realistic. Lucasfilm and Disney keep another Star Wars cinema release free for December 2027. This time window seems more feasible.
