“Now there is a concern”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Swedish covid concerns ahead of the quarter-finals.
Then Kosovare Asllani criticizes the arrangement.
– It has been incredibly small things, she says.

Sweden played their full record and won the last group stage match against Portugal with a whopping 5-0. But the joy was quickly replaced by something else, when the covid infection finally found its way into the Swedish squad.

Criticism of the EC

Hanna Glas and Emma Kullberg were confirmed to have tested positive, and after that three players – Jonna Andersson, Jennifer Falk and Hanna Bennison – have shown symptoms of illness and may now also miss the match against Belgium on Friday night.

There is concern in the Swedish camp that more players will go there for the infection, and measures have been taken to reduce general contact and to minimize the risk of infection. But there are also things that Sweden cannot influence. Kosovar Asllani is now criticizing the arrangement.

– Everything from the doping room, the media rooms to the changing rooms have been incredibly small overall. There is nothing we can influence, so there has been a lot of automatically being close to people you don’t want, Asllani tells SVT.

“Easy to be a hindsight”

However, Asllani believes that Sweden has done more than other countries when it comes to the spread of infection during the championship.

– It is always easy to look back and you can think that now and say that we should have had more restrictions, but I think we are among the tighter national teams. We keep to ourselves over here (Carden Park, Chester) and make sure not to be in contact with people who haven’t been tested, says Asllani.

She also sees other teams that, according to her, are still not doing everything to avoid further contagion.

– But you see other national teams that are out and about on the streets of London and meet people however they want. I think we take a big responsibility here in the national team and it’s just unfortunate that it got in, it’s impossible to say where it came from.
