Now the verdict regarding the murders at Nydala in Malmö in 2022 will be handed down

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was last seen alive on October 9 last year.

On November 29, a 54-year-old man walked into the police station in Malmö and admitted that he had killed and dismembered the missing young man. The brutal act took place sometime between the two dates in question.

The 54-year-old has admitted that he killed the man and dismembered the body, but claims that he killed the man with a knife in self-defense.

On Tuesday morning, the man was sentenced to five years in prison for grossly causing the death of another and gross breach of privacy.

– The district court has concluded that it is not beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant intended to kill or injure the plaintiff. On the other hand, the defendant’s action of holding a knife in his hand while under the influence of drugs when he pushed the plaintiff was very negligent and included a deliberate risk-taking of a serious nature, says councilor Anna Tengberg in a press release.

– He is therefore sentenced for grossly causing the death of another. The dismemberment of the plaintiff’s body and the subsequent handling of the remains means that the defendant is also convicted of gross violation of grave peace.

Placed in garbage bags

Large amounts of blood traces were found in various parts of the man’s residence, along with several additions. Among other things, a saw. After the murder, the remains were stored in garbage bags that were placed in the man’s refrigerator and freezer in the kitchen. There was food in the same white goods.

Due to the injuries and the condition of the body, the police have not been able to determine the exact cause or time of death.

The 54-year-old has said that one evening they started arguing and that during the argument he pushed the other man away and that he then accidentally hit the other man in the neck with a knife he had in his hand.

In questioning with the police, the man said that tablets and heroin made him numb.

– There was no logic, he answers when asked why he dismembered the body.

The 54-year-old has undergone a forensic psychiatric examination which shows that he does not suffer from any serious mental disorder.
