143 lynx may be shot when the hunt begins on Friday, which is a smaller quota than last year. One lynx has already been killed in the Örebro area, according to the Rovbase database.

In total, 14 county administrative boards have decided on license hunting, according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The hunt will last until April 15 at the latest.

A hundred years ago the lynx was almost extinct in Sweden, but today it is estimated that there are around 1,400 individuals in the country.
