During Friday morning, IFK Värnamo and Värnamo municipality agreed that the pitch must be replaced as soon as possible, after the pitch was again rejected for play during yesterday.
The cost of the change will be around three million kroner, and the football club pays 51 percent, and the municipality 49 percent.
– We are happy that we have reached a decision together and we hope that this now means that IFK will be able to play the rest of their home matches at Finnvedsvallen. That’s what we want, we’re proud to have an all-Swedish football team in Värnamo, says Gottlieb Granberg, chairman of the technical and leisure committee, in a press release.
Playable immediately
The club and the municipality expect the grass to be playable immediately, which means there will be a match at home in Värnamo against Kalmar FF next weekend.
– It is good that we agree. It is clear that this is very stressful for the club financially, but we have to deal with the problem in the short and long term and then we see that this is the best option, says Lisa Lidén, club director of IFK Värnamo.
The “home match” this Sunday is played in Kalmar, but the club hopes it will be the last one away.
In 2022, Värnamo municipality decided to build an arena that lives up to the Allsvenskan requirements – in April 2024, the Land and Environmental Court in Växjö announced that the detailed plan for the same is being torn up. In the clip, you can hear what has happened around the arena in the past two years.
