Starting this week and six weeks ahead, traffic around Röbäck in Umeå will be diverted via the ramps and the roundabout at Böleäng.
This is to fix the errors that were discovered in connection with the final inspection of the Western Link.

The work on the Västra länken bridge in Umeå has been postponed again
– We fix the errors on an ongoing basis. We also carry out investigations to establish what type of measures we should take, says Tomas Ek, project manager of the Swedish Transport Administration.
“Really bad”
The Swedish Transport Administration has brought in new contractors to fix the deficiencies. On the section towards Röbäck, which has been open to traffic, the Swedish Transport Administration sees major deficiencies.
– It’s a really bad party. It has settled almost 18 centimeters, says Tomas Ek.
– We discover new things as we grasp things. When the frost has passed, we will make a new measurement to investigate whether the road has continued to settle or not.
Awaiting the opening of the bridge
This makes it difficult to say when the road may open. But the goal is the end of August.
– But you’ll be fine, we’ll see what we come up with. We are doing everything we can to get it done, says Tomas Ek.
The Västra länken bridge will not open to car traffic until the entire section is completed, even if it is completed before then.
– We open the bridge at the same time. Possibly, the bridge will be opened to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, but that has not yet been decided.
