Now successful nature education reaches all of Sweden – so more people will understand more about forests and land

The County Board’s digital nature education consists of several courses, films that all end with short quizzes. They guarantee that it is completely undemanding and also a fun and easily accessible introduction to Swedish nature.

So far, over 3,500 people in the five pilot counties, with Östergötland at the forefront, have taken part in the Naturkunnig training. It is now being launched nationally.

– We have seen that the Swedish people have found their way back into nature. So now we hope that more people choose to become so-called nature observers and start reporting species and other observations, says project manager Nicklas Jansson, biologist at the Östergötland County Administrative Board.

Want to increase interest

The educational films are available online for free and are intended to increase the public’s knowledge and interest in plants and animals. Naturkunnig.se is now also expanded with two filmed digital field guides.

– If more people register and report observations made in nature, we can together improve knowledge and increase understanding of nature’s values and functions, says project leader Nicklas Jansson.
