Nolan transforms explosive history lessons into an incredibly intense masterpiece of suspense

Since Dunkirk and Tenet, Nolan has increasingly provided his films with idiosyncratic editing, which has spawned almost experimental blockbusters. In the director’s current work, this approach is combined with unbelievably booming sound, intense tension and a historical biopic.

The result is Oppenheimer, who races through the physicist’s life story at a sometimes crazy pace and therefore has an entertaining 3-hour running time. Thanks to the outstanding acting performance of long-time Nolan supporting actor Cillian Murphy, the blockbuster becomes furious character and suspense cinema. The sequence in which the major atomic bomb test is carried out for the first time is one of the most captivating moments Nolan has ever captured on camera.
