Clint Eastwood has been active in the film business for around seven decades. He initially made a name for himself as the star of numerous westerns. He later took the plunge behind the camera and tried his hand at directing – with great success. He has already made 39 films. With Juror #2 now could Eastwood’s final directorial effort stand in front of the door.
There have been rumors for some time that the mix of courtroom film and thriller grand finale marks the end of Eastwood’s filmography. But this finale almost happened never came to the cinema. Warner Bros., Eastwood’s longtime home studio, initially planned the film as a streaming original, according to new information.
Juror #2: Clint Eastwood’s possibly last film almost ended up on a streaming service
According to the latest issue of industry newsletter Puck, Juror #2 was originally from Warner for the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max). Declining confidence in Eastwood’s box office power after the financially disappointing Cry Macho is cited as one of the reasons for this.

Cry Macho, which was released simultaneously in cinemas and as a stream on Max in 2021, during the pandemic, only managed to gross $ 16 million worldwide, as Box Office Mojo notes. That’s less than half the budget. Variety estimated the film’s production cost at $33 million.
After the streaming initiative caused by the pandemic, Warner recently focused again on traditional cinema releases. With this change, Juror #2 also received one fixed cinema release in the USA. It will take place on November 1, 2024, but initially only in a limited form. It is unclear whether the film will be released widely afterwards.
In Germany we don’t need to worry. Warner brings Juror #2 to this country on January 2, 2025 to the cinema. If the film is actually Eastwood’s last work, we can experience it on the big screen. The film has had a lot of hype since the trailer was released.
Clint Eastwood brings thrills to the courtroom: Juror #2 looks like a really strong thriller
In Juror #2, Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) is appointed to the jury of a murder case and is shocked to discover that he has more to do with the crime than he wants to admit. From now on we follow his moral dilemma as well as the development of the court case – and that looks extremely exciting in the trailer.
Hoult isn’t the only big name in the cast. In the courtroom we will meet, among others, Zoey Deutch (Set It Up), Toni Collette (Hereditary), JK Simmons (Whiplash) and Chris Messina (Sharp Objects). Also there is 24 star Kiefer Sutherland, who recently appeared in a gripping legal drama: The Caine Mutiny in Court.
So if you slowly but surely start planning your cinema for 2025, Juror #2 should definitely not be missing. In general, the film is in good company. At the start of the new year we can look forward to a new interpretation of Nosferatu, the new film by Luca Guadagnino and the Berlinale discovery La Cocina.
