During Tuesday, Börje Salming was taken to his final rest.
Brother Stig was of course present at the funeral.
– It was a nice funeral, emotional and nice. Börje would have been very satisfied, says Stig Salming to NSD.
The funeral of Börje Salming took place in Stockholm on Tuesday, and after the Salming family had been completely open about Börje’s illness for some time, they had chosen to keep the funeral more private.
The last farewell
The brother Stig Salming was at the funeral to say a last nice farewell to his brother.
– It had turned out exactly as they (Börje’s family who planned the funeral) had hoped, a little more private with family and good friends. It was dignified in every way, says Stig Salming to NSD.
– It was a nice funeral, emotional and nice.

The funeral went as planned, and included atmospheric music. Among other things in the form of a joke from the artist Jon-Henrik Fjällgren.
– I can imagine that Börje would have been very satisfied if he had been able to listen to everything. I’m trying to find my way into this now, but it’s not that damn easy. It’s a little clouded in the mood when you think about everything that’s happening. It is an end in some way, a funeral. But I do not know. I don’t feel better today than I did last week, it’s probably a process I have to fight my way through in the best way, says Stig Salming.

“Now I’m left alone”
Who also mourns his mother Karin Salming, who recently passed away aged 95. And last year, to top it all off, he lost his wife.
– I lost my wife last year and it’s barely a year in between and now Börje is gone too. You can’t get away from the fact that it feels empty. And then mom passed away last Saturday, so now I’m the only one left from the original family we were. She has been around for a long time. Now it’s just so unfortunate that it’s a femoral neck that comes off when she falls at home which then leads to her not coming back. It is tragic, he tells the newspaper.

Stig Salming tries to get through the tough period by talking to people close to him, something he believes can be helpful in processing the grief.
– I don’t hide and talk to people who want to talk to me. I believe and hope that I will get through this in a better way by doing it that way. This is my way of trying to find my home in this, to meet people, go to hockey games and try to talk to the people who want to talk to me. That’s the best way for me to process it. I wouldn’t be able to hide, although it might be easiest to put myself in a corner and just wait for everything.
