Insider info paints pessimistic picture of Henry Cavill’s Superman future
As The Wrap reports exclusively via Insider Voice, development of a new Superman movie starring Cavill is reportedly progressing only very sluggishly to hardly Ahead. As has been explained so far, the search for a suitable screenplay is only just beginning.
In any case, at this moment no one is committed to directing and writing a new Superman movie. Also, no deal has even been finalized with Cavill. Another insider also states that it currently no concrete steps for the development of a new Superman project should be at DC.
That’s probably because James Gunn and Peter Safran were recently hired as new DC bosses. Both are currently working on one Long-term plan for the superhero universewhich will probably be presented shortly and, similar to the MCU, could directly include up to 10 years of planned projects.
The Wrap also states that many interpret Cavill’s The Witcher exit as a possibility of a freer schedule for more Superman to have. But if DC is again very hesitant about plans for Cavill’s superhero future, the exit from the Netflix series might have been a bit too hasty.
So far, however, these pessimistic assessments are still unconfirmed insider sources. At the latest when James Gunn and Peter Safran publish their big DC plan, we are guaranteed to be smarter about Henry Cavill’s superhero future.
