He came into the world the same year the Titanic sank and has lived through two world wars. John Alfred Tinniswood is now the world’s oldest man at 111 years old.
The recipe? “Sheer luck” – and maybe some fish and chips.
Until just a few days ago, the world’s oldest man was called Juan Vicente Pérez Mora. On Tuesday, the Venezuelan died at the age of 114.
Who is now the world’s oldest living man was initially somewhat unclear. First, the eyes were directed at the Japanese Gisaburo Sonobe, who was born in 1911 and reached the age of 112 years. According to the Guinness Book of Records, however, he died very recently, on March 31.
The world’s oldest man is instead in Great Britain and is called John Alfred Tinniswood. He was born in Liverpool in August 1912 and is now entered in the record books at the age of 111.
The fact that he has reached such an old age, according to Tinnisman himself, is just a matter of “pure luck”. He does not smoke, rarely drinks alcohol, does not follow a special diet. However, there will be “fish and chips” every Friday.
– You either live a long time or you live a short time, and you can’t do much about it, he says to the Guinness Book of Records.
The oldest person in the world is Maria Branyas Morera from Spain who recently celebrated her 117th birthday.
