Icon status in the Ottawa Senators.
Now the club and players are campaigning for Daniel Alfredsson to be elected to the hockey Hall of Fame.
Daniel Alfredsson is undoubtedly one of Sweden’s greatest lyre players of all time. The forward played in the NHL for almost 20 seasons, and always performed at the very highest level.
Mighty career
“Alfie” represented the Ottawa Senators for almost his entire career, and was captain for the majority of his time at the club. Because he’s one of the Senators’ greatest heroes ever, and his shirt sways nicely on the ceiling of the Canadian Tire Center.
The Swede played a total of 1246 matches in the world’s best hockey league, and is listed for 1157 points. A result few players can match, but despite the great achievement, Daniel Alfredsson has never been elected to the hockey Hall of Fame.
Only four Swedes have been elected – Börje Salming, Mats Sundin, Peter Forsberg and Nicklas Lidström. Now a large part of the hockey world wants “Alfie” to be the fifth.
Started a campaign
On social media, the campaign with the message #AlfieToTheHall has spread like wildfire, which will hopefully have an effect on the Swede being chosen among hockey’s biggest.
Several players have jumped on the bandwagon and, among other things, center Nick Foligno has spread the message via social media.
“Get the man in the Hall already,” he wrote on his Twitter.
