The science fiction blockbusters Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049 are set to be released Series on Amazon Prime Video It is called Blade Runner 2099, already includes Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh in the cast and has now landed another casting coup.
Hunter Schafer, known from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and the TV series Euphoria, will join the sci-fi cast, albeit in an as yet unknown role, as Deadline reports. Production has been underway in Prague since this spring after the Hollywood strike in 2023 caused delays.
What we know so far about the sci-fi series Blade Runner 2099
The Blade Runner series takes place 50 years after the second filmthe title already gives that away. It is produced by Amazon Studios and Alcon Entertainment, where franchise father Ridley Scott is part of the team of producers. Silka Luisa, who attracted attention with the series Shining Girls the year before last, was hired as showrunner. Shogun director Jonathan van Tulleken is directing the first two episodes of the miniseries.

Blade Runner 2099 is by the way not the first series of the futuristic franchiseBlade Runner – Black Lotus – an anime series by Cowboy Bebop mastermind Shinichiro Watanabe – was released in 2021. It takes place between the first two live-action films and is available on the streaming service Crunchyroll.
