Finland’s time at the US Open saw a surprise result early on. Serbian star Novak Djokovic the tournament ended with a loss in the third round.
The second in the world ranking faced Australia in a fateful match by Alexei Popyrinwho won 6–4, 6–4, 2–6, 6–4. Popyrin is ranked 28th in the world.
Djokovic, 37, has won the New York tournament four times. This time he was aiming for his record 25th grand slam title, but Popyrin stepped in the way of the Serbian’s dreams.
Djokovic hasn’t crashed out of the US Open this early in 18 years.
