After five years of major renovations following the extensive fire, the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris is shown to the President of France. In a week, the landmark will be reopened to the public.

Now comes the first pictures of what the 850-year-old building looks like inside. A view that does not disappoint, according to French President Emmanuel Macron.

“Even more beautiful than before, in the renewed radiance of the blond stones and the color of the chapel,” Macron said in a statement released ahead of the visit.

During the weekend of December 7-8, Notre Dame will be officially dedicated and hold its first Sunday Mass after the opening.

Around 250 companies and hundreds of experts have restored the cathedral in what was called the “construction site of the century”.

The restoration cost a total of almost 700 million euros.
