Notre Dame de Paris in the age of science with Philippe

In the aftermath of the Notre-Dame fire of April 15, 2019, mobilization instantly follows emotion. Thus begins a formidable scientific adventure told in the collective work Notre-Dame de Paris, science at work (Le Cherche-Midi editions). Interview with one of its authors, Philippe Dillmann.

The objective of this scientific adventure: to collect as much data as possible on the hundreds of tons of materials lying on the ground. Timber, stones, metals are thus sorted, listed, stored… Historians, archaeologists, anthropologists, acousticians, computer scientists and materials specialists got to work. Their mission is twofold: to carry out research on the memory of the cathedral and to help with the reconstruction.
