The gaming world is talking about 41-year-old Hichem. Hichem, aka ‘DJ H’, is from Rennes, France. Born with cerebral palsy, Hichem has 13 thousand subscribers on YouTube. However, he has made a name for himself in the gaming world with some incredible videos where he plays and DJs using only his feet.
According to the British Daily Star, the game became a lifelong passion for Hichem, thanks to the special controllers. That’s why he’s now campaigning to make all games more accessible to people with disabilities.
IT ALL STARTED WITH AN AMIGA 500
Hichem could not use his hands at all due to convulsions due to his congenital ailment, which made it very difficult for him to learn to read and write at a young age. So, when he started elementary school, his parents decided to build him an Amiga 500 computer with a modified mouse to keep up with his classmates. But the computer has become more than just a learning tool for Hichem.
His father modified a joystick, allowing Hichem to play video games on the Amiga using his feet for the first time.
As reported, Hichem has been playing games very successfully ever since. In fact, he even beat professional eSports players.
“I WAS EVEN BETTER THAN ANY PLAYER THAT DAY”
He managed to win Hichem a FIFA match against a professional eSports player at a gaming event in Paris and even met the Playstation team. “On that day, I was able to break through and even better than any player,” Hichem says.
Hichem’s ultimate goal is to make enough names in the gaming community that major developers approach him for accessibility advice. Hichem wants game companies to start consulting him and other disabled players first.
