In a few days, the complex series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will start on Amazon Prime. It is the first live-action project from the Middle-earth cosmos since the finale of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy. In the future, however, we could still many more offshoots expect, according to a press release.
The Hollywood Reporter summarizes: The Swedish media group Embracer has secured the rights to two key works by JRR Tolkien: Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The rights were previously held by the Saul Zaentz Company, which had acquired them from the Tolkien Estate and HarperCollins.

From now on, Embracer decide on new Lord of the Rings movies. Add to that video games, board games, theme parks, stage productions, and all the merchandise associated with Tolkien’s work. HarperCollins retains the print rights. The Amazon series has nothing to do with the deal.

Concrete Lord of the Rings projects that await us in the future from Embracer, are currently not certain. It is possible to implement films that “around iconic figures like Gandalf, Aragorn, Gollum, Galadriel, Eowyn and many others” turn. So we should keep an eye out for which actor could play a young version of Aragorn in the future.
The Rings of Power starts on September 2, 2022 on Amazon Prime.
