NOTHING. After many months of teasing, Nothing has just unveiled the official Phone(1) design. Discover the first images of this product designed to revolutionize the industry.
The Phone(1) unfortunately did not resist the leaks. The second product and first telephone from the young firm Nothing has just been unveiled on the net, and confirmed by the company. While Nothing continued to subtly teaser the design of its future product, several specialized leakers got their hands on the first official image of the Phone(1).
What are the characteristics of the Phone(1) from Nothing?
The first thing you notice about the Phone(1) design is that the back of the device is transparent. However, this information had already been revealed several months ago by the firm, which simply uses the transparent design of its first product, the Ear(1) headphones.
The back of the Phone(1) also reveals two photo sensors. We already know that the phone will sit in the mid-range. We can therefore assume that the Phone(1) will ignore a potential macro sensor which, if it allows you to take very close photos, is generally more of a gadget than anything else.
Finally, the central block that can be seen on the back of the Phone(1) seems to indicate that the phone would be compatible with wireless charging. A technology that is quite rare for a mid-range device, and which would therefore confirm Nothing’s desire to break industry codes.
The back of the Phone(1) also seems equipped with several LEDs. We can imagine that these can light up when the phone receives notifications. Unless Nothing has another surprise in store for us regarding the use of these LEDs, which contrast with what we are used to seeing in terms of design for a mid-range phone.
Without giving further details, the Phone(1) should have a mid-range Snapdragon processor. Qualcomm’s current most powerful chip is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. But the latest rumors about the Phone(1) point to a chip Snapdragon 778G which would allow the phone to be compatible with 5G communication bands.
Nothing’s Phone(1) will run on Android. No surprises so far, but Carl Pei, founder of the firm, also revealed that thee Phone(1) will have an in-house overlay called “Nothing OS”. This in-house operating system is defined as open and homogeneous in order to seamlessly connect and integrate devices from other brands with ease. Nothing’s CEO cited Tesla cars and AirPods Pro headphones, among others. Nothing is therefore a serious competitor to Apple, known in particular for its powerful ecosystem capable of connecting its various products with disconcerting ease.

Nothing also claimed that its operating system for the Phone(1) will have 40% fewer pre-installed applications. This software, commonly called “bloatware”, is often little desired by consumers and more the result of partnerships made between the manufacturers and developers of the said applications.
What is the release date for Nothing’s Phone(1)?
If many Internet users were waiting for a release date for the Phone(1) during the last conference of the firm, it will still be necessary to wait a little. Nothing intends to continue to build enthusiasm around its brand and its first major product. For now, Nothing’s Phone(1) is scheduled for release in summer 2022 without further details.
The Phone(1) will be officially presented this Tuesday, July 12. The Nothing brand has confirmed that it will hold a special conference, its first Keynote, to present the highly anticipated phone. We will obviously not fail to tell you about all the announcements made during this conference called “Return to instinct”.
At what price will the Phone(1) of Nothing be marketed?
At present, there is no official information on the sale price of the Phone(1). We will therefore have to wait a little longer to see if the Phone(1) is a top-of-the-range product, or if it poses as a real “flagship killer”, namely a product more accessible than the competition while offering performance equivalent. Carl Pei being the former One Plus co-founder, in particular thought at the base to be an aggressive competitor on the market of high-end smartphones, the Phone(1) could well surprise by its price.
What is Nothing?
If the name of Nothing means nothing to you, it may be normal. The company of Carl Pei (former founder of One Plus) is quite young, and has to its credit only one product launched in 2021: Ear headphones(1). Although it is a small success, the firm would like to point out that it is not a company specializing in audio products only.
Founded in 2020 by several big names in tech (including Kevin Lin and Steve Huffman, co-founders of Twitch and Reddit respectively), Nothing is launched thanks to an investment fund of up to $7 million. The company then continues its innovative momentum by promising to “break down the barriers between humans and technology”. In 2021, Nothing notably raised a million dollars in less than a minute thanks to an impressive community fundraising.
It will therefore be necessary to prepare to see more products from the Nothing brand in the more or less near future. The firm’s main objective is to offer devices close to their users and to create a hyperconnected and very intuitive ecosystem, while remaining respectful of the environment.
