Apple is about to complete its transition to its proprietary Apple Silicon processors in the Mac family. There’s only one model left, the Mac Pro for professionals. It is unclear when the Mac Pro will be introduced. But it looks like Apple has broader plans on the horizon. And a 9-model plan.
IT SHOULD BE WORKING ON NINE MODELS! HERE ARE THE MODELS
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman; Apple is working on nine new Macs using four different M2 series processors. The models are listed as follows:
- A MacBook Air with an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU.
- A Mac mini with the M2 chip and a variant with the M2 Pro chip.
- Entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip.
- 14-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips (64GB of RAM, 12-core GPU and 38-core GPU), and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
- A Mac Pro that will include the successor to the M1 Ultra used in Mac Studio.
THERE IS A CLAIM THAT HE TESTED, BUT…
On the other hand, there is also the claim that Apple is testing a version of the Mac mini with the M1 Max chip. However, since the release of the Mac Studio could render such a device unnecessary, it is thought that Apple may launch the Mac mini with the M2 and M2 Pro chip.
DIFFERENT? NO iMAC
It is noteworthy that there is no iMac model in the list. No mention is made of a successor to the 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip or a replacement for the recently discontinued 27-inch iMac.
WHEN WILL THEY BE OUT?
It may take a long time to reach a day when they are all introduced. However, if we consider the claims that at least two Mac models may be released in the middle of the year, we may witness that at least a few of them have been announced recently. Perhaps the new models could debut at WWDC22 (World Developers Conference) starting June 6th.
