The Social Democrats do not rule out that the party may demand that the director general of the Psychological Defense Agency, Magnus Hjort, resign.

This is announced by S-toppen Peter Hultqvist after a hearing by Hjort in the Riksdag’s defense committee.

– We have not decided the issue, he says.

On Thursday, the Riksdag’s defense committee held a hearing of Magnus Hjort, director general of the Agency for Psychological Defense, MPF.

The reason was the authority’s report to the Review Board against TV4’s Kalla fakta after the program’s revelations about the Sweden Democrats’ anonymous accounts.

In its report, the authority demanded that TV4 remove part of the program. The requirement can be perceived as censorship and has been criticized.

In retrospect, Magnus Hjort has said that the authority acted hastily.

– How a management initially acts in a crisis situation is very important for how the whole scenario then develops, says the Social Democrats’ chairman of the committee, Peter Hultqvist.

S takes the authority’s actions very seriously and the management has broken down, believes Peter Hultqvist.

– The action has a bearing on a fundamental competence issue, he says.

You say management has acted incompetently?

– I don’t think it has been good in any way and that is proven by the fact that they came out with this so-called correction.

Magnus Hjort was called to the committee, but participated digitally via link. Aftonbladet has sought Magnus Hjort for an interview. The authority sends greetings that the director general is on vacation.

Peter Hultqvist says that S will now evaluate the conversation and will return if the party wants to move forward with resignation demands.

– We have not decided the issue.
