Everyone knows them: The Geissens are among the most famous reality stars in Germany. The cult luxury family has been followed by cameras for over ten years and is doing really well in the business. When people are invited to go on lavish trips around the world and dad Robert spouts rude jokes like an assembly line, fans are glued to their TV screens. There’s no doubt about it: The Geissens are ultra-rich. But how did Carmen and Robert Geiss actually earn their XXL fortune? We’ve done some research.

From dishwasher to millionaire: Robert Geiss made millions with this mega deal

Today, the Geissens are known throughout Germany as a show-off couple. The rhinestone-studded TV millionaires love to show off their wealth: numerous luxury cars, a gigantic sailing yacht and several properties in St. Tropez and Monaco are of course not to be missed. But only a few fans are aware that Robert and Carmen Geiss did not have much money before! How they earned their millions of dollars will therefore come as a surprise to many.

Robert Geiss comes from a family of fairground outfitters, so he wasn’t rich as a child. After graduating from secondary school, he threw himself straight into work: he did an apprenticeship as a businessman and joined the family fairground business. In 1986, Geiss and his brother took the step that would change everything: they founded the company “Uncle Sam” – a manufacturer of bodybuilder clothing. To the great surprise of both of them, it went brilliantly.

In 1995, the deal that made Geiss rich followed. The brothers sell the company for an incredible 140 million German marks. The profits are split – Robert Geiss is suddenly a multimillionaire. At this point he has long been in a relationship with cult blonde Carmen Geiss – the two met and fell in love as teenagers before their mega success. Since then, the Geissens have been investing in real estate and companies – but their self-produced RTL2 show is also likely to bring in a lot of money.

You might think that you’re constantly watching the Geissens on TV squandering their millions. In reality, however, the family is very careful with their money. The TV family obviously lives it up on their lavish property, but they don’t waste their fortune, as dad Robert revealed to Bild:

We both know that you should always earn more money than you spend. We have lived by this motto our whole lives.

Despite their glamorous, luxurious everyday life, the Geissens are said to have never lost touch with reality:

We know how much a pound of butter costs. That’s how we were brought up at home. We were not born millionaires.
