Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen improved the 2000m ME time at the Diamond League in Brussels.
The Norwegian miracle worker Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran a men’s 2,000m ME time of 4:43.13 in the Diamond League competition in Brussels.
Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj ran the former ME’s 4:44.79 in 1999. So the record stood for 24 years, but Ingebrigtsen broke it on Friday night in Brussels.
Three hares had been acquired to speed up the record run. In the last 300 meters, the Norwegian monster broke the world record alone.
A high jumper Heta Tuuri exceeded 180 in Brussels. Tuuri cleared the heights of 175 and 180, but the height of 184 was too much for the Finn. Tuuri was left with a score of 180 to share the ninth place, i.e. the last place in the race.
The second Finn of the evening Camilla Richardson ran 5,000 meters with a time of 15:13.69 and finished in 12th place. Richardsson was 2.06 seconds short of his own record he ran this season.
Kenya ran to victory Lilian Kasait Rengeruk at 14:26,46.
