Norwegian Märtha Louise chooses to end her official duties on behalf of the royal family. The decision is a consequence of repeated criticism of her person, the princess states.
In consultation with the king
However, Princess Märtha Louise will retain her princess title, something that King Harald must have decided, TT reports among others.
– After a period of many questions related to me and my fiance’s role, I have decided that at the moment I will no longer perform official duties for the Royal Household, says the princess on her Instagram account, it reports Norwegian newspaper NRK.
– I make this decision in consultation with my parents, the king and queen, to create peace around the Royal House, she says.
“The Princess and the Shaman”
Princess Märtha Louise got engaged in June to the American Durek Verrett, also known as “shaman Durek”. The princess has been criticized for mixing commercial interests with her royal duties in connection with the couple’s lecture tour on spirituality, “The Princess and the Shaman”. In her social media, she has made posts that are advertisements for various products. Much of the criticism was about Märtha Louise making money from her royal title and status, reports Aftonbladet.
Already in connection with her previous marriage to the writer Ari Behn, who died in 2020, the princess renounced the right to appanage in consultation with King Harald.
