Norwegian mockery of Jonna Sundling – now reveals the words that piss her off: “I’m not retarded”

There is always a rivalry between Sweden and Norway in skiing.
Now Jonna Sundling reveals the mockery from Norwegian rival Heidi Weng.
– It was very special, says Sundling in the “Winter Pass” podcast.

Over the years, there has always been a strong rivalry between Sweden and Norway in cross-country skiing. Although it was significantly stronger before when such as Peter Northug was on the move with his taunts and glints.

Sundling mocked

These days, most skiers are pretty good friends and it’s rare that things get heated between Swedes and Norwegians on the ski slopes. But now reveals Jonna Sundling the mockery of the Norwegian rival Heidi Weng in the middle of a World Cup race.

It was at the mass start in Oberhof that the rivalry was revived and emotions took over. Frida Karlsson won that race and Sundling came in twelfth but the most unexpected happened on the penultimate lap.

Jonna surprised

Jonna had had to struggle in the track and all of a sudden Weng came up alongside.
– I felt that the skis might not have slid their best in that competition, but it wasn’t bad. I still thought I went well, says Sundling in the podcast “Vinterpasset”.
– Heidi catches up to me, looks at me and says: “You have a bad slide”.

The sprint specialist Sundling was really surprised by the Norwegian’s sudden words.
– I had skied five laps and obviously knew how my skis went. I wasn’t completely behind. When she says that, I just think: “well, mmm”. Then I realize how pissed off and kind of energized by her saying that. Then the devil’s horns grew a little and I could push a little more on the last lap. But it was very special to hear it during a competition. It’s rare to talk to people, says the Swede in the podcast.

Jonna Sundling makes the podcast together with Charlotte Kalla, Hanna Öberg and Elvira Öberg – and all the others burst out laughing at Sundling’s story. Although the Swedish skier perceived Heidi Weng’s words as an insult, Kalla does not think it was meant that way.
– It is so wonderful about her (Weng) that she is as open as a book. She doesn’t think about how it ends up with the recipient, says Charlotte in the podcast.
