Norwegian Kristine Stavå’s Skistad with a harsh statement about the Swedish skiers – Frida Karlsson and Linn Svahn’s answer: “Have a coffee”

The Norwegian cross-country skier Kristine Stavås Skistad likes to stay away.
Also from the Swedish riders.
– It is sad that there is not much contact across borders, says Linn Svahn to NRK.

In the last season it was Jonna Sundling who was the ski WC’s sprint queen. Even during the World Cup, she took home the majority of victories. But in the last five sprints it was the Norwegian Kristine Stavå’s Ski City which was strongest.

Skistad’s play

Stavås Skistad broke through as a talent in 2019, but that was followed by some worse seasons. But last season she was suddenly back on top, and thus won five sprints in a row in the World Cup.

The Norwegian has not only been noticed for her skiing, but also for the fact that she is so media-shy and stays out of the limelight as much as possible.

This season, Stavås Skistad has started well, she has taken several podium places. But there has been no victory yet, but the Swedes have taken them. In sprint have Emma Ribom won two in a row. It seems to have affected the relationship with the Swedish riders.
– I don’t talk to them. I don’t believe in making friends with the enemy. They haven’t talked to me much. I think it is important. At least for me. It triggers me. Being beaten by Swedes… That’s what it feels like, says Stavås Skistad to NRK.

Karlsson & Svahn

In the run-up to the sprint in Östersund, it was a tight race between Ribom, Stavås Skistad and Linn Svahn. It ended with Ribom coming first, the Norwegian second, and Svahn third. Just Linn also complains about the situation between the riders.
– We talked about it yesterday that we think it’s boring… Maybe it’s become that way after covid, but it’s sad that there isn’t that much contact across borders. I don’t think we have that much contact across the teams, but if she had wanted to come and talk or go for a run, I wouldn’t have flatly said no, says Svahn, laughing.

Frida Karlsson doesn’t mind being enemies on the tracks, but thinks the riders can be friendly on the sidelines.
– I think you can be a little on and off. I’m open to talking to her, just come and have a coffee, says Karlsson with a smile to the Norwegian site.
