The Russian Foreign Ministry says it has told Ambassador Robert Kvile that Norway should stop persecuting “Russian citizens because of their nationality”.
“We have noted that the verdicts against the Russians are politically motivated and have nothing to do with the principles of fair and impartial justice,” the statement reads.
A Russian man was sentenced last week to 90 days in prison after the man flew a drone over Norwegian territory. The verdict follows a decision on restrictions on the right to fly drones.
In recent weeks, Norwegian police have arrested about ten Russian citizens who flew drones.
Norway has stepped up preparedness as a result of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.
