Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff won the women’s biathlon chase at Holmenkollen. Mari Eder was 36th best Finn.
The Norwegian women celebrate a double victory in the chase of the World Biathlon Cup at Holmenkollen in Oslo. Tiril Eckhoff was number one on the 10 km journey and Marte Olsbu Röiseland ranked second.
– I’m on chicken. It was great to have a party with Marte. It was really fun and wild that I won today, Eckhoff told NRK after the race.
Tiril Eckhoff was also the best in yesterday’s sprint. The World Cup victory for him was the 29th of his career.
Röiseland was 24.9 seconds behind Eckhoff, the winner of the day. Both circumvented two rounds of fines. In second place, Röiseland seals her overall World Cup victory.
– This went like the Olympics, where we competed with Tiril. We talked together yesterday about what we have achieved together. Right now we’re equal and that’s when it’s fun to compete against each other, Röiseland told NRK.
The Norwegian duo was superior in the competition. Representing Slovakia Paulina Fialkova was third, 50.5 seconds behind the tip.
The Finnish women were left behind. Mari Eder was 36th and Nastassia Kinnunen 46: s. Eder shot as many as six passes, while Kinnunen shot three huts.
– In Finnish terms, it can be said that the competition was a pancake. Compared to what was expected from yesterday, Sport’s expert Toni Roponen says.
In yesterday’s quick race, Kinnunen was 21st and Mari Eder 22nd.
The Women’s World Cup ends on Sunday’s joint start. According to the Finns, Mari Eder survived the last competition.
