Karoline Knotten led her Norway to silver in the WC mixed relay.
But she was sawn at the same time by Björn Ferry.
Now the star strikes back.
– I don’t know what he means, says Knotten to Aftonbladet.
The Biathlon World Cup started with a mixed relay and it was a drama from start to finish. For Sweden it was bronze in the end, after Elvira Öberg needed two extra shots in the last shot. With that, Sweden slipped down to fourth place, but after a strong sprint lap by Elvira, Sweden secured the bronze with a margin of 1.2 seconds.
Ferry’s major criticism
Norway came second in the competition, and you could thank Karoline Knotten for that above all. The Norwegian made a completely brilliant stretch and became the team’s big silver hero as she shot flawlessly and made a strong stretch in terms of riding. Norway was a full 17 seconds ahead of Sweden, and maybe it could have been even bigger if Knotten hadn’t done something that Björn Ferry saw crazy.
On a downhill, when Knotten had great speed, she suddenly chose to stand up, which caused her to lose momentum.
– She stands up and wipes her nose. You shouldn’t stand up there, that’s just bad. Hello! It is a hill that is almost straight, Ferry said in SVT’s broadcast, according to Aftonbladet.
Now striking back
Afterwards, however, Knotten got the chance to defend herself – and then she hit back hard against Ferry’s play.
– Huh? No, I didn’t wipe my nose. I stood up because I was afraid of falling. That was my only focus, she says to the evening newspaper.
According to Knotten, it was nothing about her wiping her nose, but that she wanted to focus on not falling.
– Yes, keeping my balance and making sure I didn’t get anything in my eye. I didn’t even think about it. I don’t know what he means. It went well anyway…, she says.
