Norway is crazy after the new fiasco in the World Cup – has never been worse(!): “It’s unimaginable”

Total dominance on the men’s side.
But Norway’s ladies are in crisis in the Biathlon World Cup.
Now they are sawing again – after a historic fiasco.
– It is unimaginable, says expert Ola Lunde.

It was indeed a silver medal for Norway when it was a mixed relay that started this year’s Biathlon World Cup, but after that the ladies in the national team have not had much to cheer about. Norway’s men have completely dominated and slaughtered all opposition, but the same cannot be said for the women’s side.

Historic fiasco

There was no rider who was close to threatening a medal in the sprint, and in yesterday’s chase start came the next huge flop. The best Norwegian skater was Ida Lien, who finished in 30th place. Big star Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold, who leads the overall World Cup, finished 34th(!).

The big star had six misses in the final two shots, and was very disappointed with his performance afterwards.

– It’s just a disappointment, because you do your best. I brag that I’m good at shooting and I shoot well in practice. I do something else at the competition, but I don’t know what, says Tandrevold to NRK.

“It’s unimaginable”

But it is not only the riders who are critical. Norwegian experts are completely ignorant of the fiasco, and do not mince words in the criticism.

– It is a total collapse of the Norwegian team. It is inconceivable that they do not perform better under these conditions. They need to do a big job to come back. It is clear that they do not have the confidence they need, says NRK expert Ola Lunde.

However, there are some explanations for the weak results. Perhaps the fittest skater, Karoline Knotten, was sick to her stomach and did not come to the start.

– It was a crap day. The question is whether there will be a grave beer tonight, says Juni Arnekleiv, who was the 31st rider to finish.
