CYBER ATTACK FROM NORTH KOREA TO ISRAEL COMPANY

North Korea tried to hack the funds of an Israeli company. This attempt, by North Koreans pretending to be the company’s Japanese supplier, was quickly spotted by the staff of cybersecurity company Konfidas and was stopped in time.

Infiltrating financial institutions’ systems and working with hackers were well-known practices of North Korea, which attempted to similarly crash the Central Bank of Bangladesh. In Israel, however, this was only an initial attempt and failed.

Ram Levy, CEO of Konfidas, said in a statement that North Korea uses a different system. He said that normally such attacks run on ransom, hackers first gain access to information or control of systems and then demand ransom by threatening the other party to use them.

‘However, North Korea’s way of working was different. Theirs is simply a model where they spy, steal money and disappear. For this reason, it does not require much communication with the other party.’ he said.
