This is a major first and promises to expand North Korea’s nuclear arsenal. During a visit, Kim Jong-un revealed new uranium enrichment centrifuges.
Centrifuges that appear to be quite modern and efficient according to observers, which could lead to upward revision of estimates of the number of nuclear weapons present in the country.
North Korean media have not released the location or date of the visit, but it could certainly be Yongbyon, the country’s main nuclear weapons research center.

Earlier this week, the regime also demonstrated a new missile launcher, larger than its predecessors, suggesting that the North Korea is developing new types of missiles. Kim Jong-un has promised to equip his country with a missile capable of flying more than 15,000 km before 2025.
These sudden announcements could be a maneuver by the regime aimed at highlighting North Korea’s nuclear capabilities to weigh in the american presidential election of November.
