On Sunday, North Korea fired several cruise missiles, South Korea’s military said.

The launch came just days after Pyongyang fired several cruise missiles into the Yellow Sea in what was said to be a first test of a new generation of strategic cruise missiles.

The intelligence services of South Korea and the United States are now analyzing the launches and are also following any other activities and movements of North Korea.

Unlike their ballistic counterparts, cruise missile tests are not prohibited under current UN sanctions against Pyongyang.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have risen in recent months as Kim Jong Un has stepped up the reclusive regime’s weapons tests and nuclear threats against South Korea and its allies.
