North Korea has blown up the northern parts of the roads that connect the country with its neighbor to the south, the South Korean military said in a statement.
According to the brief statement, Seoul responded by boosting its preparedness, but did not provide further details.
Just hours before the explosions, state media in North Korea reported that Kim Jong-Un held a meeting with the highest representatives of the military and security apparatus. There, Kim is said to have described the drone flights accused of South Korea as “serious provocation by the enemy” and presented an action plan for “immediate military action” in order to protect the sovereignty of the closed dictatorship.
Destroying the border roads, which were not in use, is in line with Kim’s plans to cut off contact with South Korea. It is a way for North Korea to cement its neighbor in the South as the closed dictatorship’s main enemy.
