“Pedestrians and cyclists are simply being scared off,” says Sjany Kromwijk. She has lived on Noord IJsseldijk all her life. Traffic is allowed to drive at different speeds on the dike, 30, 50 and 60 kilometers per hour. But measurements show that traffic on the dike often drives too fast. “Driving over the dike at 120 kilometers per hour is a daily occurrence here,” says the resident.
