Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian in Norfolk County.
Norfolk OPP and paramedics were called at about 5:24 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, to a Fairground Road address in Cultus, about 18 kilometers west of Port Rowan.
Police say a 14-year-old male from Norfolk County was struck while walking along the road.
The victim suffered severe, life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased at a nearby hospital.
“The vehicle involved in this incident, characterized as a dark or grey-colored pickup truck, failed to remain at the scene,” said Norfolk OPP Const. Andrew Gamble. “It is suspected to have noticeable damage on its front right corner.”
Investigators from the Norfolk OPP Crime Unit and the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team urge anyone who traveled on Fairground Road between the 5th and 6th Concession ENR to contact police if they have dash cam footage of the incident or witnessed anything unusual.
Residents in the area are asked to check their surveillance cameras to see if recordings were made of the pedestrian or vehicle involved in this incident.
A portion of Fairground Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
