Norfolk seeks public input on budget

Think property taxes are too high?

Now’s your chance to give the county input on its operating and capital budgets.

The budget is the plan that decides the flow of funds to programs and services in the municipality, said a media release.

“We know that our residents have lots of great feedback to provide,” said Chris Everets, Norfolk’s acting manager, Strategic Financial Planning & Reporting. “Both staff and council utilize this information to make well-informed decisions on how best to meet community needs.”

To become involved with the budget process, residents can visit the EngageNorfolk website. The online engagement tool includes a survey (which closes Sept. 30), a section to submit ideas to county staff, key dates and more.

All feedback from the survey will be included in a budget engagement update report to the county’s budget committee November 17. The report, an update on the budget process, will include the public feedback and themes of the 2023 budget engagement campaign.
