Norfolk OPP: Three taken to hospital following crash

Two people were airlifted to hospital after a collision at Villa Nova Road and Concession 2 Townsend early Saturday afternoon.

The two-vehicle crash involved a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck, Norfolk OPP said, and occurred just after noon.

Police say two people from the SUV were transported to an area hospital and one from the pickup was air-lifted via Ornge. In an update on Saturday night, police said the injuries were not life-threatening.

Roads in the area of ​​the crash including Villa Nova Road between Indian Line and Concession 3 and Concession 2 between Indian Line and Cockshutt Road were closed for six hours for the police investigation.

Norfolk man charged with sexual assault

A 46-year-old Norfolk man has been named by Norfolk OPP after officers investigated a report of a historical sexual assault and are concerned there may be more victims.

Police looked into the report on Nov. 21 but the alleged assault took place between 2016 and 2019.

Aaron Mitro was taken into custody and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching of someone under the age of 16.

He was held in custody but was set for a bail hearing in Simcoe court on Friday.

With the ongoing investigation, police said they believe “there may be additional victims” and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
