Provincial police officers and Norfolk County firefighters were dispatched to a Highway 24 address north of Simcoe just after 4 am Wednesday (Dec. 11). The outbuilding was unoccupied and no injuries have been reported, Norfolk OPP said.

The fire is being regarded as suspicious and investigators are asking nearby residents to review home surveillance systems to see if anything that could help the investigation was captured on video.

Highway 24 north is closed between Concession 10 and Concession 11 for the investigation. It is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time, Norfolk OPP said in a statement.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Updates will be provided when new information becomes available, police said.
