Norfolk flags at half mast to honor fallen firefighter

Known as Zak to friends and family, Muise was a 25-year-old Waterford native and firefighter in British Columbia.

He was killed in the line of duty battling the Donnie Creek wildfire on July 28.

A celebration of life will take place at The Greens of Renton Golf Course on Sunday at 2 pm

Norfolk County Fire Chief Gord Stilwell, several county staff members and members of the Norfolk County Fire Department will be in attendance.

“We are all saddened by the loss of a fellow brother,” said Stilwell. “Our hearts go out to all of Zak’s family and friends. This is a tragic loss for our community.”

Norfolk Mayor Amy Martin said “all of us in Norfolk County are deeply saddened by the passing of Zachery.”

“We respect his bravery and willingness to protect others. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.
