Norfolk County has a long history of professional wrestling, dating back to the days when wrestling legends would perform locally. Norfolk County Championship Wrestling’s goal is to develop a reliable and sustainable wrestling product that will serve its Norfolk County audience for years to come.

“We found ourselves coming back to Talbot Gardens because it’s the mecca arena here in Simcoe and Norfolk County,” said Martin, who teamed up with Shawn Smith, Matt Latour, Dylan Graydon, and James Gates to form NCCW.

“All my cousins, friends, they all spent numerous hours here – days, weeks, months, years – and we thought that was really important to incorporate into our company brand,” said Martin. “It’s not just a wrestling company to us, it’s a community, and we just thought it would be a really cool idea to bring back something that had some nostalgia in regards to pro wrestling.

“Between the five of us, we have done everything we possibly can to put on the best show, not only for the town, but the community. I think our bookers did a really nice job of putting together something that is diverse. You’re not going to see all the same talent – everyone is going to bring something different to the table.”

Martin said NCCW will be a true family experience and that’s why the show is Sunday at 2 pm

“Family friendly,” he nodded. “I think that’s the key to creating a community event. We want families to have a very economical source of entertainment in their own backyard. You don’t have to drive to Brantford, you don’t have to drive to Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener…”

The plan is to host four shows a year around Norfolk County and highlight some of Ontario’s younger wrestling talent. They are also drawing wrestlers from Buffalo, New York.

“We want the focus to be on Norfolk County for our venues. So we want to involve not just Simcoe, but also town’s like Delhi and Port Dover. And Waterford, if it’s possible.”

Stories will evolve from show to show, said Martin, within a timespan they can be remembered.

“We want to give fans enough that we make it special each and every time they come out. Something different.
