Public input is being invited into Norfolk’s master recreation plan, called Recreation Without Borders, a roadmap to “improve the quality of life for all residents by providing opportunities for leisure, growth and connection,” said a news release issued by the county.

“This initiative aims to provide inclusive, sustainable and economically feasible recreational opportunities that reflect the diverse needs of our community,” said Mayor Amy Martin. “We encourage everyone to participate in shaping this plan by sharing their valuable input.”

A survey can be completed at EngageNorfolk.ca, or on paper at the ServiceNorfolk Customer Service Desk in Delhi or Simcoe, any Norfolk County Public Library branch or the Simcoe Recreation Centre.

In addition to the survey, residents can visit EngageNorfolk.ca to answer three questions:

  • What does recreation mean to you?
  • What keeps you living in Norfolk?
  • What is your favorite recreation memory growing up?

Tailgate-style drop-in public sessions will be held at locations across Norfolk where residents can talk to county staff and get discounts at the establishments hosting the events. These include:

  • Friday, Aug. 23 from 1:30 to 3 pm at Riversyde 83, 83 Sydenham Street, Simcoe.
  • Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 am to 11:30 am at Sam’s Place, 4665 Highway 24, Scotland.
  • Saturday, Aug. 24 from 1 pm to 2:30 pm at Wholesome Pickins, 500 Church St. E, Delhi.

People can also join a Facebook Live session at facebook.com/NorfolkRecreation on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 10 am for an interactive discussion about the Master Recreation Plan.

In addition, local community groups, organizations and recreational facility user groups can request a one-on-one session with the recreation team. Visit EngageNorfolk.ca for more information.
